Blackboard - Migrate Aktiv to Multi-Column Sync (V2)

(for Aktiv Team)

PART 1: Pre-Setup

  1. Go to the Willo Labs Customer and make sure the LMS admin email address is added to the field LMS Admin Email List. Do not create a new Customer; modify the existing one.

  2. Go to the Willo Labs Configuration and edit the Grade Sync Mode (step 6) to support multi-column syncing. Do not create a new Configuration; modify the existing one.

  3. Go to the Admin Site and follow Admin Site LTI Source to disable Use Legacy Sync Type toggle (using the “Edit LTI Source” widget).

  4. Ask the Willo Labs team (in the Slack channel #engineering-lms) to create a new Application ID. You will need to give them the name of the institution and the full domain of the blackboard LMS (for e.g blackboard.myschool.com).

PART 2(a): LMS Admin (On Call / Hand-Holding)

Use this section if you take an integration call with the LMS Admin, otherwise skip to next section.

(Note, you do not need to touch the existing installed LTI tool, that can and will continue to be used as is).

  1. In the LMS, guide the LMS admin to setup a Blackboard REST API Integration. You will need the Application ID from Willo Labs (you should have this as per the Pre-Setup above).

PART 2(b): LMS Admin (DIY)

Use this section if you just want to email the LMS Admin with instructions so that they complete it themselves.

  1. Send the LMS admin an email referencing the following guide - Blackboard Aktiv Multi Column Sync Migration for e.g:

    Dear [LMS Admin] of [University],

Please visit https://help.aktiv.com/guides/lms/blackboard/lms-blackboard-migrate-v1-to-v2 for a complete guide on migrating Aktiv to be able to perform multi-column syncing.

You will need the following data:

    - Tool Provider URL: [Url]

    - Tool Provider Key: [key]

    - Tool Provider Secret: [secret]

    - Application ID: [applicationId]

If you still have questions, refer to the Blackboard FAQ.
